Hot Docs would like to take the time to thank and acknowledge the original stewards of this land that we occupy as settlers and where this event is produced.
Toronto, or T’karonto, is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Wendat peoples, and is now, and always will be, the home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.
We recognize that Toronto is covered by the Dish with One Spoon treaty. This treaty bound the Anishinaabeg, Mississaugas and Haudenosaunee Confederacy to share the territory and protect the land. Subsequent Indigenous Nations and Peoples, Europeans and all newcomers have been invited into this treaty in the spirit of peace, friendship and respect.
We welcome you to Hot Docs, and invite you to reflect on the history of the land where you are watching from and your relationship to it.
