There are more than 65,000 climate scientists in the world plotting and graphing in painstaking detail how humans are heading in a catastrophic direction. Despite these experts returning increasingly grim results year after year, many have never been asked how they feel about climate change. Director Nathan Grossman invites seven climatologists to a weekend therapy session to hash out their emotions.
In science, anything outside the realm of logic is considered taboo; in this therapeutic context, the researchers fight the urge to share their findings rather than their feelings. In the circle are a NASA scientist, an extreme weather specialist, a CIA agent-turned-climatologist, and experts in food security, animal health and forestry. With a charismatic therapist at the helm (he leans heavily on humour and his time working with 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina survivors), the group members slowly let their guard down. Grappling with their sense of responsibility in the face of a growing global disaster, the scientists harness their fear and grief into a revealing conversation that humanizes the enormity of the climate crisis.
