Seniors in their sixties and beyond make a splash as they hold back the hands of time and celebrate the beauty, strength and joy they have found in synchronized swimming. Luther is 82 and the assistant coach of the Harlem Honeys and Bears. He’s been active with the club for over 30 years and shows no signs of stopping. Across the border is Ellen, 63, from Kitchener, Ontario, who owes her life to embracing the sport. With support from her teammates, she reclaimed her self-confidence and trains daily, aiming for a personal best at the US Masters National Championships. Some of Ellen’s help comes from world champion Sue Nesbitt, who travelled the globe as an athlete in the 1970s and still competes while coaching and prepping costumes. With bedazzled bathing suits and an upbeat attitude, these athletes won’t waste a moment as they seize every opportunity their golden years provide. Alexander Rogalski
