Sarah, an Afro-German mother to a newborn, dreams of a life where her family is united within one country. Her early childhood, as the daughter of a German mother and Mozambican father living in Berlin, was a modern love story. Then, her father, Eulidio, had to leave. With every intention of returning to Germany, Eulidio tried renewing his visa, but Germany was a changed country after the fall of the Berlin Wall and had new immigration policies for citizens of Mozambique. Sarah’s nuclear family shattered, split over two continents to which Sarah travelled back and forth in the hope of continuing her relationship with her father. Along the way, she met the father of her child and, after giving birth to Luana, she fears she has re-created the same destiny for her daughter. Samah Ali
