Only a handful of major nonfiction film festival across North America offer direct compensation to the filmmakers whose work festivals rely on. What festivals do offer is promotional value and industry exposure. Is that enough? This session gathers filmmakers, critics, and programmers to explore the taboo topics of filmmaker compensation, revenue sharing, festival submission fees, and alternative distribution models.
