Watch in Cinema

A music documentary about Minyo Crusaders, a Tokyo-based band that blend Latin and Afro flavours into unique arrangements with minyo: a traditional Japanese folk genre now at risk of extinction. For many in Japan, minyo is "lost music." In this film, director Yuji Moriwaki takes an up close and personal look at the musicians figuring out together how to reconstruct the art form, and the process of how to “bring minyo back” to contemporary audiences.

In Japanese with English subtitles.
