Hot Docs will present its Industry Conference and Market over three days starting April 28 during the 2025 Hot Docs Festival, April 24-May 4, in Toronto.
In response to recent challenges faced by the organization and industry-wide obstacles affecting filmmakers and delegates, Hot Docs has recalibrated its industry activities and paused its internationally renowned pitching event, Hot Docs Forum. This decision supports Hot Docs’ broader stabilization efforts, allowing the organization to refine and enhance future industry offerings and reimagine the Forum for 2026.
“We are committed to showcasing extraordinary storytelling and creating a welcoming space for film business development and industry connections,” says Elizabeth Radshaw, Hot Docs’ Director of Industry Programs. “Our 2025 Industry Conference and Market is designed to be an intimate yet impactful gathering where diverse filmmakers of all career stages are supported, and emerging voices are uplifted. From networking with industry leaders to collaborative learning, we’re building a vibrant community for authentic connections and meaningful exchanges in the documentary space.”
KEY FEATURES OF THE 2025 CONFERENCE AND MARKET
The 2025 Industry Conference will include an expanded Works-in-Progress screening series, which will showcase up to 20 projects from Canada and around the world, and the return of the popular Deal Maker program, which facilitates over 900 one-on-one pitch meetings between producers and international funders, distributors, and sales agents.
In partnership with Netflix, Hot Docs Incubator will also spotlight mid-career Canadian film teams, who will present their innovative works-in-progress to delegates.
Attendees can also look forward to panels, roundtables, masterclasses, and networking events designed to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
