Watch in Cinema

Back to the Bloor: Revel in the rich theatrical history of Toronto's beloved repertory cinema with fun series of throwbacks to when the building was known as the Bloor Cinema.

Well then, there, now... Seven decades after its release, Rebel Without a Cause is still celebrated for making Hollywood icons of James Dean, Sal Mineo and Natalie Wood, beloved by generations of youth subcultures, and an inspiration for countless film scenes and characters (Grease, anyone? The Outsiders?), angst-ridden pop songs and brooding album covers.

After moving to a new town, teenage troublemaker Jim Stark (Dean) is supposed to be starting with a clean slate—but being the new kid on the block comes with problems of its own. While searching for stability, Jim forms a bond with Plato (Mineo), a troubled classmate, and falls for Judy (Wood), a local bad girl whose boyfriend Buzz (Corey Allen), the neighbourhood tough, confronts Jim in a knife fight. When Buzz challenges Jim to a drag race, the new kid’s real troubles begin.
