Watch in Cinema

Join Hey Black Girl! and Hot Docs for a screening of the timeless classic, Love & Basketball. This event is thoughtfully crafted for Black women and Black non-binary communities to come together and connect over the 25th anniversary of the classic film.

Like Hey Black Girl!, Love & Basketball was made for and by Black folks. Director Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Secret Life of Bees) masterfully captures the epic twenty-year romance between Monica and Quincy in a love letter to Black love, friendship, and, of course, basketball. As Roxane Gay put it, “We see her love for Black people in the nuances of her writing and directing. She sees us, as our best, imperfect selves. She sees us as worthy of all good things. She allows us to be strong and vulnerable, powerful and hungry. We see the full intensity of this love in Love & Basketball.”

Don’t miss out on this evening of connection and celebrating the stories we love. Join us as we laugh, cry and cheer together.

Stick around for a discussion of the film after the screening.

Doors will open 45 minutes prior to the screening.
