Nominee - Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film
Basel Adra, a young Palestinian activist from Masafer Yatta, has dedicated his life to resisting his community's mass expulsion by Israeli forces.
Basel chronicles the systematic destruction of Masafer Yatta as soldiers demolish family homes in the largest forced transfer ever carried out in the occupied West Bank. Along the way, he forms a connection with Yuval, an Israeli journalist who joins the fight against the expulsion. Over more than half a decade, they struggle side by side, their complex bond shaped by the stark inequality between them: Basel, living under oppressive military rule, and Yuval, moving freely without restriction.
This film, created by a Palestinian-Israeli collective of four young activists, emerged during one of the region's darkest times as an act of creative resistance and a pursuit of equality and justice.
In Arabic, Hebrew and English with English subtitles.
