Canadian Journalists for Free Expression and the Faculty of Information and Media Studies at Western University invite you to join them for a lively discussion about the upcoming federal election -- Canadian Politics in the Eye of the Storm. A panel of Canada's best journalists will share their insights, analysis and predictions as they discuss one of the most consequential election campaigns in decades.
Moderated by CJFE's Carol Off, you'll hear from Nicole MacIntyre (Editor-in Chief, Toronto Star), Brodie Fenlon (General Manager & Editor-in-Chief, CBC News), Ian Bailey (Reporter, The Globe and Mail Ottawa Bureau), Matina Stevis-Gridneff (Canada Bureau Chief, The New York Times), Luke LeBrun (Editor, PressProgress) and Justin Ling (Investigative Journalist). These reporters, editors and decision makers of our country's major news organizations will examine existential political questions:
What's in store for Canadian federal politics in 2025?
What effect will the turmoil in the United States have on our election?
How will our journalists meet the needs of Canadians who want to understand the stakes?
What can Canadian media do to overcome the threats of bots, trolls, disinformation, polarization and filter bubbles?
Presented by Canadian Journalists for Free Expression and Faculty of Information and Media Studies (Western University).
