Hot Docs plays a crucial role in bringing Canadians together through documentary films, and amplifying our stories at home and abroad. We share documentaries that expose new truths, open minds, touch hearts and bridge divides, which are essential to the cultural and civic fabric of our country. This year, we are continuing our Friends of Hot Docs campaign, recognizing everyone who makes a donation. We greatly appreciate anything you can contribute to support and protect this vital cultural institution.

Friends of Hot Docs

In 2024, we launched our first Friends of Hot Docs campaign where we recognized each and every donor who contributed to us. 

From December 2024 to June 2025, over 1000 Friends of Hot Docs contributed $115,000. And thanks to the very generous contribution of The Bennett Family Foundation, the first $100,000 of donations were matched taking the total to over $215,000.

Since June 1, 2025, over 800 Friends of Hot Docs have contributed to this year's campaign.
