From the Academy Award®–winning creators of 20 Days in Mariupol, 2000 Meters to Andriivka reveals the human cost of the Russia–Ukraine war through an unflinching, intimate lens.
Filmmaker Mstyslav Chernov and Associated Press colleague Alex Babenko embed with a Ukrainian brigade fighting to reclaim the occupied village of Andriivka—advancing just two kilometers through a forest fortified by war. Their footage offers a rare, frontline perspective on what it means to fight not for territory, but for survival, dignity, and the hope of returning home.
Blending frontline cinematography, soldier body-camera footage, and moments of reflection, the film captures the courage, trauma, and resilience of those who fight for every inch of home. Chernov’s characteristic clarity and restraint deepen the emotional weight of each moment, inviting viewers to witness the war beyond headlines and numbers.

Ukrainian Canadian Film Community (UCFC) is a Toronto-based non-profit uniting Ukrainian filmmakers working across Canada. Founded in 2023, UCFC brings together creators who have long called Canada home and those who arrived after the 2022 full-scale invasion. Through screenings, networking, and creative support, UCFC works to amplify Ukrainian stories and strengthen their presence within the Canadian film landscape.
