Pre-arranged, one-on-one online meetings with distributors and sales agents for finished, nearly finished and rough-cut films.

Projects must be in a rough-cut or complete stage.

Projects that have an international appeal and would suit theatrical, broadcast or educational audiences are encouraged to apply.

You can submit up to TWO projects. We accept:

  • Feature-length docs
  • Television docs
  • Series
  • Interactive work
  • Cross-platform media

You will be required to provide a trailer, sample footage or a screener.


All producers who submit projects that meet the above eligibility requirements will have an opportunity to request meetings with participating decision makers. However, meetings are arranged subject to the discretion of decision makers and are not guaranteed.

After producers have submitted their meeting requests, project information will be forwarded to the requested decision makers, who will review and accept or decline each request in accordance with their respective acquisitions mandates.

Not all projects may secure meetings.


Participants will have 20-minute virtual meetings with decision makers.

Applications for the 2023 edition will open in January.


All producers must be registered with a Hot Docs All-Access Pass to apply for and participate in Distribution Rendezvous. If additional project team members are to attend the meeting, they must also be registered.

The scheduling of meetings is subject to the availability of participating decision makers.

If your application for meetings is unsuccessful, feedback on your project is not guaranteed.

Hot Docs Industry Programs Department reserves the right to change the guidelines or processes for Distribution Rendezvous at any time and without notification.

Hot Docs Industry Programs Department will not take rights or liabilities in projects selected.
