As part of their counterterrorism strategy, the FBI has been employing undercover agents to get close to Muslim/Islamic sympathizers and identify possible terrorists. Saeed “Shariff” Torres has been working as one of these agents for more than 20 years, but under increasingly difficult circumstances—and with a young son to consider—he’s decided to do just one last job. Aware of the questionable ethics behind the FBI’s tactics, Torres uses the job as an opportunity to expose them by allowing a documentary crew total access to his operation. What they find in this Sundance award-winner are violations of the murky line between preventing crimes and inventing them. A smart political thriller, (T)ERROR exposes counterterrorism tactics like you’ve never seen before. Sarafina DiFelice
