As a kid, your father seems heroic, particularly when he’s mysterious and can play boogie woogie piano. At least thats how it seemed to filmmaker Erik Bafving, whose dad was often the life of the party. Using archival footage and period music, the film evokes the 1950s as a time of great prosperity and conformity. Eventually though, it all went wrong for Bafving’s father. Work wasn’t good and there was too much reliance on booze, the drug of choice at the time. But is that enough of an explanation? Now that his dad is just a memory, Bafving tries to figure out what made the music stop. Marc Glassman.
