Imagine the betrayals you are most ashamed of. Now imagine facing those whose trust you destroyed. Director Karen Winther does just that, bravely turning the camera on herself in this first-person exposé of her darkest moments. Through archival footage and readings from her journal at 15, she strives to understand what compelled her to commit acts that haunt her today. Driven by her troubled home life to search for belonging among warring extremist groups in 1990s Oslo, she ricochets from far-left radicalism to neo-Nazi fascism, leaving a trail of wreckage in her wake. Narrative tension rises as her descent unspools through raw and shockingly honest conversations with former friends and especially with her mother. Karen is asked as many questions as she poses; through her unflinching answers she allows us insight into the adrenaline-drenched seductive power of extremism and the depths of her own soul.
